Frequently Asked Questions
What is KAPN?
KAPN (KAY-AY-PEA-EN), or Korean American Professional Network, is a nonprofit organization with roots in Dallas. Empowering Asian American youth in the DFW area through Youth Empowerment Seminars since 2009, KAPN aims to inspire and support the next generation of innovators, creators, and leaders.
Where do I sign up?
You can sign up here: Eventbrite
Can I receive volunteer hours?
While you cannot earn volunteer hours simply by participating, we are in need of volunteers from 8-9 AM and 3-4 PM on the day of the seminar. Rides must be arranged to and from the hotel independently, and volunteers must be enrolled in 9th-12th grade. Sign up here: SignUpGenius
Are parents allowed to come?
Yes, certainly. While the seminar is focused on empowering students, parents are welcome to come as well if they are inclined to do so. However, we encourage parents to allow their children to attend the seminar independently, as it will allow them the most opportunity to learn, grow, and foster friendships.
If you intend on staying for the seminar as a parent, you must register via the Eventbrite and communicate this and whether you would be requiring a breakfast/lunch via email to email us before August 18.
Will my kid/s be supervised?
Yes. We have an intern team of high school upperclassmen and college underclassmen, as well as KAPN executives that will be present to help lead and supervise the event.
Can I see a sample of past seminars?
Of course. Images and videos from past seminars can be found here: KAPN YES
Would it be possible to view a schedule for the day?
Yes! While this is still a tentative schedule, it should generally reflect the track for the day: Participant’s Schedule
What if I have a food allergy?
When you register on the Eventbrite, there should be a space to fill out any food allergies or dietary restrictions. You are welcome to communicate your name and dietary restrictions via email to email us as well. All specifications must be received before August 18.
What are the features of the seminar?
The seminar is from 9 AM to 3 PM on August 21 at the Westin Galleria Dallas in the Fort Worth Ballroom. Please note that the seminar is in Dallas, and that only the Ballroom is named “Fort Worth”.
Features include a breakfast spread, exciting activities and icebreakers, engaging speakers, a student panel of high school upperclassmen and university underclassmen, lunch and restroom breaks, T-shirts (included in Eventbrite fee), and a raffle with prizes at the close of the seminar.
What is your mask policy?
With the pandemic and emergence of the Delta variant, we are taking every precaution to ensure that we do not put on a “super spreader” event. To this effect, we are following CDC guidelines closely and will continue to evolve with the CDC’s guidance.
As for our mask policy:
