KAPN was founded on its principles of community service and continues to boast that reputation in many of our programs and initiatives. In addition to the mentoring programs mentioned above, KAPN leaders have poured countless hours and energy into volunteering and uplifting the Dallas community.
Whether it is supporting the homeless or hungry, teaching math and English to underprivileged kids, or honoring our veterans, medical heroes, and first responders, KAPN strives to instill a foundation of meaningful service in the community to our professional and student members.
In March 2019, KAPN launched a campaign to honor and appreciate the medical heroes putting their lives at risk working overtime with inadequate PPE to test, triage, and treat patients testing positive for COVID-19. KAPN partnered with several Korean and Asian restaurant owners to donate over almost 1,000 meals, drinks, and desserts to Parkland Hospital workers over a five week period. KAPN also started a COVID-19 Relief Fundraiser with DKNet AM 730 and raised over $17,000 to procure and donate 6,100 KN-95 masks to local first responders at Parkland Hospital, City of Irving PD & FD, City of Carrollton PD & FD, and North Texas Food Bank.
